Normally the hottest new digital sounds come from either the island, yeah, I am talking about Great Britain or big European countries such as France, Germany or Italy. Of course there are your usual musical surprises such as Belgium, Holland or Spain but that should basically cover most of the relevant market, I would say. Get real! Here comes GOOSEFLEH from Istanbul, Turkey!
These two whacked-out guys are tearing up new ground at an alarming rate and are bringing the freshest sound south of the border to their home country. And with great success, because Gooseflesh are becoming an house-hold name in Turkey and are rapidly spreading their infective killer-groove all across Europe and light-years beyond. In case the word hasn`t spread to your side of the bed yet, well check-out their bad ass EP Dodgems, about to be unleashed worldwide by the revered German label Freakz Me Out.
The great thing about Gooseflesh is, they are not simply ripping off their big heroes across the bay, no, these two maniacs have developed their own sound and have found great supporters from the all across the scene. Or would studs like Tiga, Azzido Da Bass and Fisherspooner ask these guys to hit the studio for them? I believe not! The up and coming EP features bodacious remixes by sizzling acts such as the Italian Number 1 newcomers Cyberpunkers (absolute peak time material), the extremely respected German producer Markus Lange vs. Stereofunk, the funky Cryptonites and the raging aUtOdiDaKt.
Every single musician showcased on the "Dodgems EP" gives this new output their own special, unique touch, from groovy to “are you out of your mind”, these remixes cover all aspects of modern club culture.
Another exciting feature presented on this blazing fresh release is the fact that Clint Langley is responsible for the cover artwork. In the event you have not heard about this bloke yet, he is the acclaimed Marvel artist accountable for your favorite comic heroes Punisher, Ghost Rider and Warcraft.
Sounds good?Sounds great is more like it! So provided your were not paying any attention to Turkey`s boiling electronic scene, well now is the time to look south. Because Gooseflesh have once again landed another dance-floor thriller.
ELECTRO FERRiS | FiGHT CLUB
BONAPARTE vs MARKUS LANGE | ANTi ANTi
Hamburg bad boy ELECTRO FERRiS, member of heavyweight German band Deichkind, returns with his second single on Freakz Me Out and it is a big hitter, as it were.
Co-produced and engineered by Tobitob of Moonbootica, "Fight Club" is a huge Electro anthem, with pitch-bending goose bump chords, crisp beats and plenty of sidechaining rave fuel. As per usual we have a hand picked assortment of the finest remixers around doing their magic on this one.
Deichkind are among the biggest acts in Germany, playing sold out concerts and destroying festival main stages on a regular basis. Anyone who has ever dodged flying elbows at a Deichkind show knows what's up with their remix, dangerous.
Fukkk Offf, also from Hamburg has been killing it lately with massive singles such as Rave Is King or The Bottom, an album on New York's Coco Machete and remixes for Jan Delay, Zombie Nation, Decalicious, Acidkids and Gooseflesh among others. In trademark style Fukkk Offf gives us hands in the air Electro for Fight Clubs of larger dimensions.
Cryptonites go French on us Roulé style with their big chords and big smiles version, keeping the vocal sparse and transforming it into chopped up dancefloor dynamite.
Stuttgart's aUtOdIDaKthas taught himself a thing or two about turning out killer peak-time Electro remixes, like this one, sporting massive detuned synths, driving sequences and the deepest of kicks.
The remix package is completed by Freakz Me Out veteran & big label friend Markus Lange who build a huge floor bomb with his remix.
Über-extravagant circus rockers BONAPARTE have been ripping up the indie scene lately, and the blame for most bruises on the dancefloor rests squarely on „Anti Anti“. It’s one of those tunes that is just begging for an electro reworking – a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it.
Luckily, we are in the capable hands of Markus Lange for this one as well as some our favourite remixers of today. Markus delivers the initial club refixes in two versions, demonstrating why he is one of Germany’s top producers.
Jaymo’s remix is already all over Radio One – and that’s not only because he has his own show there, big support is also coming from rock ‘n’ rave hotshot Kissy Sell Out Radio Show on BBC Radio One.
Jaimie Fanatic is entering the big, big, BIGleague now with his new EP on Diplo’s Mad Decent label as well as pounding out sick remixes by the bucketful for labels like Southern Fried and Fidget Kingdom. And his “Anti Anti” remix is no exception!
K-Paul has been high up in the German charts alongside his production partner Lexy. Hisremix proves he still knows how produce for the club as well as for the radio.
THiS GUN iS SMOKiN!
DiSCO TRASH MUSiC | NEON DiSCO
GOOSEFLESH | WET EP
We are starting 2009 with an absolute monster of a release! After their debut on FMO, remixing Gooseflesh, they now have a whole bunch of high profile remixes lined up, including the likes of Azzido Da Bass, Moston & Malente and Play Paul.
So the stage is set for some original Disco Trash Music.......and here it is in the form of "Neon Disco".
The original features a catchy counting rhyme vocal over a straight electro groove and detuned, gliding synths. Disco Trash Music's own club version of "Neon Disco" keeps the vocal club version of "Neon Disco" keeps the vocal but lays on more beef, some glitched-up funkyness and that littleand that little slogan that sums it all up: slogan that sums it all up:
DESTROY THE F*#%ING DANCE FLOOR!
And what a list of remixers we have this time. First up is Kitsune's Alex Gopher, who delivers two pounding remixes that demonstrate why he is among the most in-demand remixers around.
The autoKratz from London, also Kitsuné artists, have recently remixed Fisherspooner as well as the mighty Underworld. Staying true to form, their remix is a perfectly arranged piece of stadium Electro.
And as if all this wasn't enough, rounding off the package are the hugely popular Moonbooticafrom Hamburg. And their remix aims squarely for peak-time carnage, with a big bassline and cut up wild-pitch vocals over a stomping beat. Moonbootica's trademark hands-in-the-air chords are introduced in the drop followed by a massive snare-driven build-up before all hell breaks loose.
Recently bigged-up by IDJ Magazine as one of the best German labels for meaty Electro beats, Freakz Me Out is quickly joining the likes of Boys Noize or Television Rocks in the list of names to watch if it’s modern electronic party music you’re after and Minimal is boring the hell out of you.
For the latest FMO release, it’s all eyes on Turkey for a change – and we’re not talking about Christmas Dinner… Hailing from Istanbul, new signing Gooseflesh are exploding onto the scene with tracks and remixes out on Coco Machete, Big Splash and Boxon Records among others.
The “Wet EP” features three Gooseflesh originals that demonstrate why these two guys have been receiving heaps of blog love this year, with their pumping beats, catchy chords, powerful riffs and tight production. Band members Jackdied and Jasko are fond of the sound of Erol Alkan, Daft Punk and SebastiAn. Elements of these and other influences can be found on “Wet”, “Love District” and “Take Shoot”, fused together to show us the Turkish take on maximal Electro.
We take things back to home turf with some of Germany’s finest Electro artists freaking out on remix duty. First up, it’s Zero Cash, whose massive remix of “Wet” sounds like a tougher version of Chicken Lips with rave sirens, heavy bass and a bit of glitch in all the right places.
Fukkk Offf from Hamburg, much in demand for his amazing remix work, found the time to give the title track a reworking in his inimitably dramatic, driving style.
ELECTRO FERRiS | DAY OFF
LARS MOSTON | JACK iT
Germany’s chart-topping ex bad boy of Rap (Ferris MC), aspiring actor, DJ and one of the festival-destroying electrosuperdanceband Deichkind…
Ferris is always on the look-out for new ways of channelling his creative drive. And his latest scheme may be his most devious yet as it involves teaming up with one of the most successful Electro producers of today: Andi Meid(D.I.M.)
Electro Ferris is the name of this new venture, which follows up Ferris’s previous outings as one half of Maniax (best known for their club hit “Dark City” on Moonbootique Rec.) and as guest vocalist for Tube & Berger (“Fuck The World”).
Coming in three versions, “Day Off” is a proper summer anthem, like some of Digitalism or Moonbootica’s finest moments. In the original version that features Ferris’s catchy vocal “I put the needle on and play my favourite song…” as well as the club instrumental, a bassline big enough to raise 10.000 hands on its own and straight, crisp beats lay the foundation for those goose-bump chords that partying outdoors was invented for.
The remix then seriously turns up the toughness, driven along by a Flat Beat style buzzsaw bass, harder beats with funky hi-hats and only a small part of the vocal, looped and chopped in the drop for maximum effect on the dance floor. If the original will have them raising their arms, this one will have them climbing fences…
Lars Moston's latest release is on the new freaky Label called Freakz Me Out. Since “Ever Since I Heard The Sound“ on Plastique Base Records, Lars has been a busy boy, dropping the massive “F*cked Up” (with Malente), the solo single “What Now” and a whole bunch of remixes.
The releases got huge DJ feedback from the likes of Shir Khan, Yuksek, Mickey Slim, Azzido da Bass and Mason. “F*cked Up” even reached the top 5 of the German Club Chart.
The new single “Jack It!” has a straight, stomping beat, with just a touch of funky percussion, laying the foundation for a monstrous, twisted synth lead, rave stabs and wild-pitched “Jack It!” vocal.
With big drops and build-ups the tracks aims squarely at serious dance-floor devastation. With the original comes a hand-picked remix package that features two of Mr Moston’s favourite production teams:
Daniel Dexter & Nhan Solo from Berlin and the amazing Australians they call Acid Jacks, who are best known for their “Bring it on” remix for GOOSE!
The Berlin crew delivers and absolute peak-time burner of a remix, retaining the jackin’, stomping feel of the original but going completely mental with a new bassline, lots of detuning and rave sirens – yes!
Acid Jacks keep the original lead synth while adding some trademark 303 madness, blowing up the stabs and twisting the vocal even more, all held together by a driving straight beat and truckloads of awesome.
